Different publishers in different countries prefer different designs. I like the Italian version - 1 illustration only ð

Yes, I think also this one is definately the most stylish and pretty, and next to it that what ever benelux or nordic language it is with the limited dark palette and the green belt for the title. For someone not treating the book as collectible or coffeetable accent but as something to look inside for reference with grubby hands during projects, this style will be most preferable as it wont get ratty so easy as all books with white corners do when not treated with great care.
But the others are just so busy and still with lots of white where its impractical.

And you as an author have no influence on the publishers jacket choices at all??

Interesting feedback. No, I have very little say in that area of decision making. Each publishing house has its own cover layout / book designers. They go with what their research says will sell best in their area.

Amazing! So there is a researcher somewhere that found out that we Germans are attracted by rather wide oversized all-caps serifless fonts for a header like a rat is by cheese???
I would not half mind to meet that person. to find out how they arrived at this conclusion... ;o)

Yes, but it's still an odd choice, I think. An artbook deserves a bit slowfood for the eyes after all, what ever nationallity the prospective customer, it will be likely a person looking at books for an unhurried passtime to begin with :o)
