Of coarse, those are only the facts of the picture, and don't betray the reasons for the title given. When you're 3 or 4, the expectations of your parents, the church, your race, neighbors, kindergarten, and brothers and sisters don't weigh that heavily. She's either an only child or the littlest of the kids. In her world, reality and fantasy are as easily interchangeable as the water and ice in your glass of ice water, and the limits of the fence in front of her are only physical. It's as easy to be a fish, playing with all your fish friends, as it is to be a little girl stuck in worldly circumstances and an uncomfortable little body. In fact, she is a fish right now, soul free, swimming , jumping, and diving for a joyous eternity. Will she ever return? Maybe not on porpoise.
