Quantumleaper

This little nuthatch recently bumped into my window and fell down on the terrace. Fortunately the window isn't too far above ground so the height of fall couldn't have injured him all that much. I ran out to see what happened to him - apparently he was still moving and breathing, but unable to fly. So I tried to give him some water, picked him up to bring him to a safe place and let him regenerate. Once I picked him up and wrapped him in my hands, he started shaking in fear, so I just spoke to him very softly saying that he needn't be afraid. Much to my surprise this seemed to somehow soothe him and make him understand that I didn't mean any harm to him. He sat on the ground for another 30 minutes and then flew away - hopefully never to bump into windows again.
