Probably he saw the seagull approaching and it's brain identified a suitable composition. Then the hypothalamus takes control of its fingers; in one heartbeat (tud-tud!) it puts the camera in manual mode an chooses the right combination of speed/aperture/iso, manual focus at 0.75cm plus a self-timer of 2secs. At the beginning of the next heartbeat (tud-tud!) the trigger is pressed and the camera is launched some meters vertically, intentionaly aligned with the flight plane and not with the horizon; the seagull hears a "click!" coming from its blind spot at 8 o'clock, and the camera is again on Thilo's hands, who looks at the screen and feels slightly disappointed because the histogram could be better.
You know, the typical work-flow of the typical ninja-monk-super-power-uber-human photographer.
Thank you all!!!
